Celebrating 10 Years of Leadership: Jim Callaghan Reflects on a Decade at TURN

Today, TURN Behavioral Health Services proudly celebrates a milestone: Jim Callaghan’s 10-year anniversary as President and CEO.

Over the past decade, Jim has helped lead TURN through one of the most transformative periods in our organization’s history, guiding growth, innovation, and expansion while remaining steadfastly committed to our mission of improving lives.

When Jim joined TURN in 2016, the organization stood at an important crossroads. Since then, TURN has evolved into a leading behavioral health nonprofit serving communities across California through 60 community-based programs and a dedicated workforce of more than 700 professionals. Today, TURN provides prevention, intervention, treatment, recovery, supportive housing, justice-system reentry, and youth and family services to individuals facing some of life’s most complex challenges.

Throughout his leadership, Jim has championed a culture built on TURN’s guiding principles of People, Culture, and Growth. He has advocated for investing in employees, strengthening community partnerships, and creating systems of care that put clients at the center of every decision.

As we celebrate this milestone anniversary, we also wanted to create space to reflect on the journey.
In a special episode of the Behavioral Health Brief podcast, the tables are turned as TURN’s Chief Operating Officer, Dr. Wendy Broughton, sits down with Jim for a candid conversation about the past ten years.

Together, they explore:

-How TURN has evolved and expanded its impact across California
-The leadership lessons learned through a decade of change and growth
-What gives Jim hope for the future of behavioral health care
-And more.

From navigating industry-wide changes to strengthening TURN’s continuum of care, the episode provides insight into the vision, resilience, and commitment that have helped guide the organization through a decade of growth. We invite you to join us for this special conversation and celebrate a decade of leadership dedicated to improving lives.
